RE: How are you and your RV during these times?
using mine as much as I can. Gas has come down to under 3 bucks a gallon in some areas. Doing more local, went out last weekend and going again Wed. for a week.
RE: A sad day
Mine never goes in storage because I try to camp several times during the winter. New Year's is fun at the local campground and so is Easter. I can't think of the day when I have to store mine for the winter.
RE: Charge Engine Battery at Home
If I had this problem I would find a spot and mount a small trickle charger just for the chassis battery. They are cheap and they shut off automatically. Route it to plug into the house system so when you have the shore power plugged in you will always have a charged chassis battery. This would be a simple task to complete.
RE: Slide Gaskets Not Properly Deploying
If the seal is partly out at the bottom and in at the top you will get water passing behind the seal. This happened on my last MH. On the one I have now the seals do not flip out but stay in-ward. After careful checking I determined that the water will not pass behind the seals when they are either fully out or fully in. Mine are all the same way (in-ward) so why touch something that I don't have a problem with.
RE: Interesting development - Shortage of used Class "A"s??
Could it possibly be due to the poor economy, and that the people that want to sell can't because they can not get what they need out of the unit the own. So as a result they are holding onto a unit that they would like to sell but can't because they can't afford the loss????
RE: Catapillar or Cummins
I don't own a diesel motorhome but do have two Cat and two Cummins generators the power where I work. The Cat's are about five years old and the cummins are well over forty years old. These generators are quite a bit larger then you would find in a motorhome and are exercised every week without a load and once a month under full load. They also run during all our power outages and low power periods. Based on the problems I have had over the years I would vote that the Cummins engine is a little more dependable.
The Cummins have not had any problems other then normal maintenance, however the Cat's have had quite a few minor problems. The problems with the Cat's allthough not major do cause an inconvience as they seem to have the problem just when in need of their service.
